Out of Commission

The Barrett household has been all sorts of crazy the past few days.

I had a Dr appointment on Monday at 12:30, so off I went. Caleb had to be at work at 1. He decided to skip this appointment since we are getting towards the end and he wanted to make sure to be at other appointments. Brady spent the night at my in-laws house the night before because of the Dr. appointment.

While at my appointment and Caleb was about to leave for work, a pipe burst in our Master Bathroom causing water to fill our room and bathroom. Fortunately, Caleb was home and heard it. He quickly turned off the water to the house, but the damage had already been done.

The water was only found in the master bedroom, master bath, garage, and under the house in the crawl space. That is still a lot, but it could have been A LOT worse if no one was home.

I decided to pack up some stuff and head to my parents house. Brady and I have been there since Monday. Caleb has stayed with us some and at home some because of work.
Our house is a wreck right now. I came home for a few hours today to get caught up on laundry, resupply clothes, and straighten up what I could around the house.

I also grabbed my camera cord so I could post pics from this weekend.

Everything is currently in the process of drying out. It is super loud in our house with all the fans and equipment going. Flooring is ripped up and stuff is just crammed everywhere.

This is our room from the living room.

This is what our bathroom looks like.

This is our bed. (The extra mattresses were on the bed in that used to be in the nursery. We were in the process of cleaning out the nursery and moving stuff out, so they were just sitting in our house until we got them into storage. They restoration people had to get them off the floor, so this is where they landed.) This is one major reason we are staying at my moms. We have no where to sleep.

The square in the sheet rock is where the leak started. It is fixed, but everything around it is still wet.

There are more fans in the garage and under the house. It kind of sounds like our house could take off at any moment.  LOL!

I will be so glad when this is all cleaned up and we can resume our normal lives!!!

Baby Talk- 27 Weeks

27 Weeks
The second trimester is coming to a close and the third is quickly approaching. It is less than 13 weeks until we meet our sweet baby girl. My schedule is filling up so fast, between Dr appointments, Brady's t-ball season beginning on Saturday, normal life stuff, and spring and summer activities picking up. This makes me so happy. I feel like the last trimester(which begins next week, Eek!) is going to be a whirlwind.

I notice I keep wanting to just relax and doing nothing during Brady's naptime. I know I should/could be getting so much done. I know naptimes won't be the same when baby girl comes, so I am soaking up every second of peace and quiet I can.
My sister took this picture at my moms house on Saturday. Front pictures make me feel better about myself. Ha Ha! I meant to take a side picture this week, but kept forgetting.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 27 weeks

Size of baby: size of a head of cauliflower

Total Weight Gain/Loss: up about 12 lbs on my scale

Clothes: It is about 1/2 regular and 1/2 maternity, although the amount of regular clothes I am able to wear are decreasing.

Gender: Girl! Presley Lynn Barrett

Movement: Yes!

Sleep: I can't complain too much. I am so tired at the end of the day that I am able to fall asleep easily. Leg cramps, feeling uncomfortable, or going to the bathroom usually wake me, but it is manageable. I have been more uncomfortable this pregnancy, but I have also been more tired and had less energy than with Brady. It seems to all even out. :)

What I miss: eating without feeling miserable afterwards

Cravings: not really anything specific.

Symptoms: nothing new.

Best Moment this week: enjoying Easter with my family. The Easter bunny brought Presley a girly Boppy cover and my mom got her a sweet outfit this week. I found a couple of sweet things from Dillards for $4 each. Nothing super exciting, but they were only $4 and had been $30+. Girl shopping is fun, but oh so overwhelming. I can never decide on what to get. It is all so cute!

What am I looking forward to: my Dr. appointment next week.

Easter 2012

First, Easter festivities with my family on Saturday.

All our sweet babies. Just about 5-6 years ago we had no littles. :)

I love this one because the little littles are looking at the big littles.

Brady had a strategy of only picking up blue eggs then returning for the rest.

I became Noah's personal basket carrier.

Then the Easter bunny visited 2 very special little ones.

Brady asked for goggles, bubble bath, and M&M's. So funny.

He needed a bag for T-ball, luckily the Easter bunny found one on sale. ;)

Then it was time for church in our Easter best

The dress I wanted to wear to match their ties was determined too short for church. Oh well.

Brady was not cooperative for pictures.

Lastly, but not least, Easter festivities with Caleb's family.

We have all been exhausted today! It was worth it though. You know it was a good weekend, when your 3 year old says an hour before nap time, he just wants to sit down and rest his eyes. Ha Ha!

Baby Talk- 26 Weeks

26 Weeks!!!

I am starting to feel like I have been in the 20's forever. However, there is less than 14 weeks to go and I feel like there is so much to do. Getting the garage cleaned out and getting the nursery painted are huge and have both been done this week. Yay! Hopefully now I can get moving with getting ready for baby.

Brady is so excited and wants to be in the weekly picture every week. We try to get him to kiss my belly, but he is so quick we haven't been able to catch a good picture until this week. He is so in love with his baby sister. I really hope he stays that way.

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 26 weeks
Size of baby: size of an English hot house cucumber
Total Weight Gain/Loss: up about 10-11 lbs
Clothes: It is about 1/2 regular and 1/2 maternity, maternity are more comfortable most of the time, but make me feel like I am 3x's bigger.
Gender: Girl! Presley Lynn Barrett
Movement: Yes!
Sleep: I have slept pretty good the past several nights. I think everything blooming messing with my sinuses and the heat drain me during the day.
What I miss: being comfortable and being able to bend over with ease.
Cravings: not really anything specific.
Symptoms: the biggest thing is the uncomfortable feeling and not being able to breathe. I have noticed a few Braxton Hicks Contractions if I over do it and don't drink enough water. They are very few and far between though.
Best Moment this week: getting her room painted. I finally feel like we are making progress. I really want to work on the nursery now.

What am I looking forward to: working on the nursery and my next dr appointment this month.

It's true what they say...

Kids say the darnedest things.

Brady says the craziest, most funny stuff. I blows my mind what pops out of his little mouth.

We were at a devotional/get together/ dinner with friends from church this past Saturday and we began talking about all the things kids say.

Someone asked if I wrote it all down and I said it is on my blog.

Then I realized it had been a while since I had done a post about stuff Brady has said.

Not good.

It is too precious to forget.

So, here it goes.

For your entertainment and my documentation...

  • Last night, Brady woke up screaming with a fever of 102. I scooped up that big boy around my swollen, pregnant belly and put him in our bed. Caleb calmed him while I got him some medicine and some ice water. Brady began to talk, and talk, and talk. He talked without taking a breath for about 30 minutes. Caleb began to laugh and Brady looked at him as serious as anything and said, "Don't waugh at me, I am sick!".

  • The other day Brady was playing outside when he suddenly ran over to me and said, "My daddy built our house on Jesus Christ." Then said, " Did you know Jesus Christ it the rock?"

  • One day we were all watching t.v. when out of the blue, Brady said, "Oh my Gosh! Did you see that baby in that there picture."     Who talks like that?

  • When we were at my moms house a few weeks ago, Brady woke up screaming. We had been to the zoo that day and apparently he had a bad dream about the snakes. (If you remember, he chose a snake as his toy from the gift shop) He was shaking and mumbling something about a giant snake. When I finally got him calmed down, he said, "That giant snake at the zoo broke through the glass, just like on Harry Potter!" He has nightmares/night terrors on nights when he is overly tired. It is really scary until you get him calmed down and to acknowledge you

  • We have 3( yes not 1, but 3) imaginary baby crocodiles that live with us. I decided I needed a blizzard from DQ after church one Wednesday night, so I drove thru and got one. After ordering but before getting to the window Brady started talking about the baby crocodiles. As I pulled up to the window to pick up and pay, Brady yelled, "Mom, WAIT!" I asked why and he continued to tell me how I crashed into the baby crocodiles while they were getting their milkshakes. Really! By the way, I did not pretend to let the baby crocodiles get their milkshakes. I am all about promoting creativity, but I draw the line somewhere.

That is really all I can remember right now. I need to do a post like this once a week.

Here is how Brady spent the better part of his day today. I believe his fever broke during nap time and he has seemed much better since.  Hoping for a fever free night!

Happy Birthday Noah!

(The pictures aren't great due to the lighting and my average camera. Yes, Brady is dressed as Spiderman. I am not sure how that costume is still surviving.)

Last week, my sweet nephew Noah turned 2!

We attended his small, family only 2nd birthday party at his house on Saturday night.
There were about 15 family members there(give or take, I didn't count).

Everything was so cute and the cupcakes were yummy.

Brady had the best time!
Noah is such a sweet blessing to our family and to Brady We were so happy to celebrate this special day with him.

We are looking forward to many more sweet boy!

Baby Talk- 25 Weeks

25 Weeks

I feel like I am way further a long than 25 weeks this week and 15 more weeks seems like forever. I have been so uncomfortable this week and she kicks so hard. The other night Caleb was trying to feel her move and she was kicking so hard, I think he had a little sympathy for me.  He kept talking about it! Ha Ha!

This is a terrible picture. We took about 150 and this was the best. I think it reflects the way I feel this week. I didn't feel like this until well into the 3rd trimester with Brady. It is funny how each pregnancy can be so so so different.

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 25 weeks

Size of baby: an average rutabaga

Total Weight Gain/Loss: up about 10-11 lbs

Clothes: It is about 1/2 regular and 1/2 maternity, maternity are more comfortable most of the time, but make me feel like I am 3x's bigger.

Gender: Girl! Presley Lynn Barrett

Movement: Yes!!! Hard kicks!

Sleep: not great, but not terrible. I am managing.

What I miss:   being comfortable. I don't know if it is her position or what, but I have been so uncomfortable this week.

Cravings: not really anything specific.

Symptoms: the biggest thing is the uncomfortable feeling and not being able to breathe.

Best Moment this week: getting closer and closer to meet her.

What am I looking forward to: working on the nursery

Midnight Date

I read the Hunger Games series over a year ago and loved the books. I tried to get every one I know to read them, including my husband. Finally after hearing other people go on and on about how awesome they are, he decided to read them. He loved them! He was hooked at the first chapter.

Once he finished reading,  he agreed to attend the premiere showing of the first movie. Literally the second the tickets went on sale I bought two for the midnight showing.

Thursday night/Friday morning it was finally time to see the movie.

We ran by the theatre to pick up our actual paper tickets before meeting some friends to eat. The theatre employee told us that the movie was sold out until a 3:10 am showing. Crazy! They also said seating for our showing would start at 9:30 pm.

I asked for an excited face and this is what I got. Ha Ha!

We met our friends and had a yummy and fun dinner. We arrived back at the theatre right around 9:30. The theatre was already filling up quickly, but we were able to snag 5 seats together at about the 5th row from the top. That was the whole point of getting there so early. We talked and laughed until the movie started.

The movie was great. I loved it. Of course, the books are better, but I was really pleased with the movie. I am usually very disappointed if I have read the book. However, I think they did a really good job on this one.

I can not wait until Catching Fire comes out.

Maybe I can convince Caleb to attend the premiere again! ;)

Baby Talk- 24 Weeks

24 Weeks!!!

24 weeks is significant to me, because when I was doing my internship,  I spent some time in the NICU and the smallest babies I saw were born at 24 weeks gestation. It is comforting to know that if she was born at this point, she could  have a chance of survival and every week from this point on her chances increase. Of course, I want her to stay and grow another 15-16 weeks or so.Some might think that is weird, but it comforts me. It is a milestone I looked forward to with both of my pregnancies.

I am expecting these next 16 weeks to fly by. However, this weather makes me want to sit inside under the air conditioner until she gets here. 80+ degrees in March is not good for a July due date. I am going to be sitting around half naked, drinking cold drinks, and eating Popsicles, if it continues! Ha! Ha!
This was in my car one day this week. Notice it says it is 87 degrees outside and I have it set for 61 degrees inside. LOL!!!

We had our follow up ultrasound today and everything looked great. Presley is still a girl and weighed 1#10 oz. That is up nearly a pound in 5 weeks. Wow! She cooperated enough to get the measurements we needed and everything looked perfect. There is still one small concern about the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding her they are going to watch closely.  She is a very stubborn and wiggly little girl. The ultrasound tech just kept laughing out loud because she kept kicking the ultrasound wand/thingy so hard!

She said she was also very photogenic today. They were trying to see the chambers of the heart and the next thing I know the tech had switched over to a 3D viewing and snapped some pics of her sweet face for us. We didn't do a 3D ultrasound with Brady and aren't planning on it this time, so it was an unexpected surprise.

She looks so sweet!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 24 weeks

Size of baby: length of an ear of corn

Total Weight Gain/Loss: up about 10 lbs

Clothes: It is about 1/2 regular and 1/2 maternity, maternity are more comfortable most of the time.

Gender: Girl! Presley Lynn Barrett

Movement: Yes!!! Hard kicks! My mom and sister were able to feel and see her move this week.

Sleep: not great, but not terrible. I am managing.

What I miss:   being able to enjoy the nice weather. Between feeling hot and the high pollen, I am not enjoying the weather much. :(

Cravings: not really anything specific.

Symptoms: some leg cramps and being hot, but it isn't too bad unless I get hot, I can NOT cool down.

Best Moment this week: My mom and sisters excitement over feeling her move and the Dr. appointment!

What am I looking forward to: hopefully painting and getting the nursery cleaned out a little more.

Impromptu Picnic

Tuesday, Brady came out of his room with his Thomas the Train lunch box, that we usually store crayons in.

He had emptied and asked if this was his lunch box.

When I told him it was, he immediately got busy filling it with his wunch for the day.

It looked a little like this...

 It included..

2 grapes
2 packs of fruit snacks
an orange(cutie)
2 slices of turkey
a bag of mixed nuts
1 Cars yogurt
a rice krispie treat
a spoon
a Capri sun

He then closed it up and said, "I am ready for my picnic".

Really, how do you say no to that?

You don't!

We headed outside with a blanket and set up a picnic. Oh and we didn't change out of our pajamas, because, well, we didn't want to.

As soon as we stepped outside, Brady said, "Wow, it is hot out here."

Once we sat down, he said about 15 times, "it sure is nice out today".

We enjoyed our lunch and packed up and came back inside to clean it all up.

It was probably the sweetest moment ever. It is definitely one of my top ten moments with Brady ever. It was just so stinking sweet that he packed up his own lunch and the way he talked while we were eating.

He really is a special little boy. I am not sure why God chose me to be your Mommy, but I am so thankful He did.

Weekend Without Daddy continued

Brady and I stayed at Mom's again, while Amy and Noah went home hoping Noah would sleep a little better.

Sunday morning after church, I helped host a baby shower for our friend Ana and baby Nora.
The mommy to be and all the shower hosts.

Ana is due exactly 10 weeks before me. We are all excited for Presley and Nora to be sweet friends.

We have several friends that have boys the same age as Brady, so it is nice to know that Presley will have the same. :)

drink table

sweet ruffle cake

table centerpieces

opening gifts

some of the bigger gifts

some of the guest reactions. Baby girl showers are so fun!

This picture didn't turn out well, it is so blurry, but I made the poofs. You may remember some of them from the gender reveal party!
Caleb got back around noon or a little before. He and my parents took over with Brady while I helped with the shower.

Brady had ball practice, so Caleb also took him to that and then they came home for the night.(I know I have a wonderful husband!) I helped clean up  the shower and then hung out with my mom until church.

I spent a long time talking after church because I was by myself, a friend was in town I haven't seen in a while, and I didn't have a toddler to watch or get home. It was really nice to get to visit with people and give my full attention!

Caleb and I stayed up way too late talking and sharing about our weekends. It is nice to have some time a part to miss each other and share stories other than work/normal life stuff.

As tired as I was and as bad as my feet and legs hurt(blame pregnancy), It really was an awesome weekend and I am thankful for every second of it.
